Residential Carpentry Programs

RCITO, working in partnership with industry employers, apprentices and training providers, has developed a unique model for Residential Carpentry Programs in British Columbia. The model allows for separate BC certification in each of the four carpentry trade specialties. The programs are all competency-based and bridged and laddered – both to each other and to the traditional trades – and include state-of-the-art residential technical content.

The Residential Carpentry Programs include four separate residential carpentry trade specialties of Residential Framing Technician, Residential Forming Technician, Residential Exterior Finishing Technician and Residential Interior Finishing Technician.

Currently, the Residential Framing Technician program is the only one offered. The remaining three trades are being recommended by RCITO for designation in 2010 and are expected to come on stream in the near future. Check this web site for the latest updates.
