Why Hire an Apprentice?

The short answer is that hiring an apprentice is good for your business. Apprentices are eager to learn and committed to producing quality work and developing their skills. In fact, in a recent survey of existing sponsoring employers, almost three-quarters said that their apprentices make a positive financial contribution to their company. In addition, many of today’s apprentices complete a pre-apprenticeship program before they begin looking for a job, and are able to hit the ground running with work-ready skills.

Hiring apprentices is also good for the industry as a whole; it raises standards, creates trust, and ensures there are skilled workers available to meet future needs and address skills shortages.

Hiring an apprentice is an important commitment. Once you’ve decided to hire an apprentice, you'll need to register with the Industry Training Authority, who will issue you an employer identification number. If you are not already registered, your registration will be completed when you and your apprentice submit your Apprentice and Sponsor Registration Form.
